With two months before the parliamentary elections in Armenia, electoral support for the ruling party is fading away at an alarming pace, forcing Pashinyan to take drastic PR steps. Being aware of the generally positive attitude of the Armenian population towards Russia, he deemed it prudent to arrange a visit to Moscow with the aim of demonstrating his ability and skill to negotiate with the Kremlin.
This time, however, the talks took a somewhat unexpected turn on some of the pain points pertaining to Russian-Armenian relations over the past four years.
Importantly, the controversy surrounding the assessment of the ongoing events as well as the prospects for further developing the ties between the two states, hasn’t passed unnoticed by Russian officials. Nor has it been ignored by the RF President himself, causing the Armenian PM to once again refer to the good old tricks propagated by anti-Russian propagandists.
